The same installation process will install the Frame.io extension in both Premiere and After Effects. Download the extension here. Before we start, the minimum supported version is Adobe After Effects CC 13.5 or 2015.
If you are using a Mac, double-click on the .dmg file that is downloaded and this will open the Installer. If you are using a PC, double-click on the .exe file.
After clicking Install, restart Adobe After Effects.
In the After Effects navigation bar, click Window > Extensions > select Frame.io.
- If you are using a Mac and do not see Frame.io in your Extensions list, you most likely are on OS X 10.10 Yosemite and need to update the folder permissions of the Adobe Extensions. Follow these instructions to change the correct folder permissions.
- If you are using a PC and do not see Frame.io in your Extensions list, you may have to install the extension manually by using these instructions.
This will open Frame.io in a separate window. Enter your login credentials and then you should see your Frame.io projects in this window. To move this extension into your Editing panel, drag it onto the After Effects window where you would like to access it.
After making this change, save your Workspace by going to Window >Workspaces > Save Changes to this Workplace or Save as New Workplace if you want to create a separate Frame.io specific workplace.
The next time you open After Effects, if you still do not see Frame.io, click Window > Workspaces > Reset to Saved Layout.
