Audio proxies

Audio specs cover both audio-only and audio-video files
Codec: AAC
Format: MP4
Bitrate: 128 kbps
Channel layout: Stereo (single channel, see below)

Multichannel support

Frame.io does not support multiple audio tracks. Only the first track would be extracted when downmixing to a stereo file. Therefore, we recommend flattening it into one channel before uploading to Frame.io.

However, when multiple audio channels are sent as a stereo/3.1/5.1/ 7.1 channel layout on the same audio track, all channels will be played back in the Frame.io player.

If a file has more than 8 channels, the transcode will not be able to play it back in Frame.io, but the file will still be able to be downloaded and played locally.

Note: Channels 1-8 & 16 are supported, 9-15 are not supported.
