Blackmagic Design built a native Frame.io integration in DaVinci Resolve 16 Studio. That being said, Frame.io doesn't have any control over this integration. If you have any questions or feedback regarding the integration, please contact Blackmagic Design support.

Getting Started:

To get started, click DaVinci Resolve > Preferences, select Internet Accounts and enter your Frame.io credentials. Click save

❗ NOTE
: This integration is only available on Resolve 16 Studio. Resolve 15, Resolve 15 Studio and Resolve 16 are not supported.

Frame.io in DaVinci Resolve Explained:

Viewing your Frame.io account in Resolve:

Once you're signed into your Frame.io account you'll have access to all of your Frame.io accounts, teams, projects and folders under the DaVinci Resolve Media tab

Select and drag your Frame.io clips to the Media Pool. Once in the media pool they will begin to download automatically which allows you to begin editing on the proxy version while you wait on the full resolution file to download in the background.

Resolve will automatically swap the proxy with the full resolution file once downloading is complete

Automatically synced, frame-accurate comments:

Frame.io comments, replies, and annotations are automatically synced to your DaVinci Resolve timeline. Comments made on your timeline in DaVinci Resolve can be seen by teammates and collaborators in Frame.io  Replies to comments will show up as a marker in your timeline.

Exporting Media:

Upload your timeline or a section of your timeline to Frame.io

Click the Deliver tab in DaVinci. Select the Frame.io preset. This allows you to render the sequence to a file, give the file a name and select the project you want to send it to in Frame.io* *

After clicking add to render queue the job is pooled in the Render Queue. To kick off the render and upload click the Start Render button  ✨
