What languages are supported in Frame.io?

Written by Jared

Frame.io now supports multiple languages in the product user interface, allowing users to view and interact with Frame.io in their preferred language across supported apps and integrations.

What languages are supported in Frame.io?

Currently available

  • Brazilian Portuguese

  • English

  • French

  • German

  • Italian

  • Japanese

  • Korean

  • Russian

  • Simplified Chinese

  • Spanish

Language support applies to Frame.io V4 experiences. Legacy V3 experiences are not localized.

Language selection and user experience

When a new language becomes available to you, Frame.io will automatically switch your interface language depending on your existing browser cookie or device language. In the web experience, you will still see a prompt allowing you to confirm or change your preferred language, ensuring you remain in control.

You can change your language preference at any time from your account menu. Once selected, Frame.io uses that language for experiences it controls, such as the Frame.io web app, and the emails sent by Frame.io. On devices, language selection is tied to your Frame.io App’s language setting located in the device’s settings.

Some advanced features may vary by language. See Translation considerations below for more details.

How to change your language in Frame.io

You can change your language preference at any time:

  1. Open the Frame.io web app

  2. Select your account menu

  3. Choose Language

  4. Select your preferred language

Only languages that are currently available to your account will be shown.

Translation considerations

While all product interface strings respect the language preference chosen, any data owned or editable by users will not be translated:

  • Frame.io generated metadata fields and field values, like Status, will be in English. When they are duplicated, those copies will appear in English as well.

  • Strings generated by Frame.io, like in watermark templates or default Collection names, use English. If edited to use a different language, all users in the account will see them in the language they were edited in, regardless of their own language preference selected.

  • Any transcriptions created previously to our extended language support are not automatically reindexed for search. To have those existing transcripts indexed, make any edit to the transcript.

We will continue to improve language support across our products over time.

Customer Support Availability by Region

Frame.io provides customer support to all users. Support options—including available languages and contact methods—depend on how your account was purchased and managed.

Accounts Purchased Through Adobe

For Frame.io accounts purchased and managed through Adobe (Teams and Enterprise plans):

  • English and Japanese language support is available for:

    • Teams (admins and end users): chat

    • Enterprise (admins only): chat or web case

  • For Enterprise plans, end users should contact their Adobe administrator, who can reach out to Support on their behalf.

Accounts purchased through Frame.io

For Frame.io accounts purchased directly through the Frame.io website:

  • English-language support is available to all users via chat and email.

Why support options may differ

Frame.io is expanding language support in phases. Product UI localization is delivered first, followed by support enablement aligned to the account management model, region, and availability.

FAQ

Q: Can different users on the same Frame.io account use different languages?

A: Yes. Language preferences are set per user. Different users on the same account can choose different languages, depending on which languages are currently available. Note that your language setting only affects your own product experience.

A: Any data owned or editable by users will not be translated. This can include, but is not limited to:

  • Select metadata fields and field values

  • Project Template names, descriptions, and any metadata created within them

  • Default Collection names and descriptions

  • Watermark Templates
