What is Frame.io Transfer?
The Frame.io Transfer app is the easiest and most efficient way to download bulk content, large folder structures and entire projects with the same speed and reliability you come to expect with Frame.io. These downloads can be of the original files you upload or the proxies we offer.
The app will let you monitor the active downloads in its queue and let you reprioritize them with a simple drag and drop. You’ll also have full control to cancel or clear any downloads at any time. You can even use industry-standard exchange lists like an EDL, FCPXML, or FCP7XML to download specific files used in your edit.
Users will be prompted to download with Frame.io Transfer when downloading two or more files, an entire folder, or a single file >2GB. The Frame.io Transfer app is currently available for download in beta on both Mac and PC and accessible to users across all account permission levels.
How to use Frame.io Transfer
If you currently don’t have Frame.io Transfer installed, download it by going to your project settings and selecting the Download All option. Selecting this will prompt you with an option to download the app on your desktop.
Once installed and properly signed-in, you will have full access to download content across all accounts you are apart of to download. Select the project, folder, or files within a folder and click the Download button, followed by your quality level preference.
The selected content will immediately download to your save location. View the statuses of all active downloads by clicking the Transfers button. Additional options including clearing completed items when they're finished, pausing single or all downloads midway, or canceling single or all downloads. Highlighting the assets will open options to reveal the Frame.io location, reveal the file’s directory location or view log file.
The Frame.io Transfer app also has EDL support, in addition to FCPXML and FCP7XML for an easier transfer of files. If you've exported one of these lists from your preferred NLE, Frame.io Transfer will assist in finding and downloading all these assets directly from your selected project or folder for you instead of having to search and download them manually.
To enable this, select the list file from the Set List... option and select Download. This should then automatically start the process of downloading all assets apart of the EDL file. A log file is also created when starting the download that will indicate if files have been found, failed, retried or successfully downloaded.
